Does Microsoft have available for download drivers which will improve the performance of eSata internal harddrives.
As shipped originally WinXP was probably not equipped to handle eSata, but years later there are many things available for use under WinXP SP3 which the old drivers won't optimize.... more »

What is the largest internal hard drive WindowsXP SP3 32 bit NTFS will recognize and handle without problems?
I have heard 2TB and and smaller.
Using XP Pro with SP3 on a modern mother board and want to install a 1TB internal HDD, can I do it without conflict?

Hello.
I got annoyed with Windows XP Pro. SP3's dfrgntfs.exe that runs automatically in the background after about ten minutes or so of idling. So I disabled it through TweakUI. I tried to manually run dfrgntfs.exe, but it said "command line operation of Disk Defragmenter is not supported." Is this the same disk defragger through... more »

Windows hosts file not working?

I work at home and have a PC with Windows XP. Now I turn next to a Windows 2003 server with XAMPP on it. It simply works. WITH MSSQL server. But now there are some things in the PHP code (made by another) which looks at the URL or domain or something. I try this with my etc/hosts file to resolve. Now that does not work. The site is accessible at 10.0.0.34 and I want to go via xx2233.nl if possible. I've Already done a lot; flushing, restarts, file-extension check, dns client win-stop service ... nothing. Could it have something to do with the firewall in the ZyXEL modem? Everything PC/Server here is connected to the Zyxel router.... more »

Thanks in anticipation to all..... I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 XP
laptop. I was in the process of backing up my work on a Samsung external
drive when the following csript popped up. " 5 seconds to completion"
An hour later still 5 secondes etc etc.
