Trying to network XP SP3 with Windows 7

Lost shares on XP Peer 
  after working for months, our XP Peer group 'server' (8 PCs in the network) stops sharing files. The PC is no longer in the network Neighborhood. Failure to browse in XP HOME network since SP3 + updates

newbie networking help
