Frank, how large are your hard drives?
XP needs at least 1.5 GB to install, and 3 to 5 GB to operate in.

Resources are not relevant. Space on D: does not count.
Sounds like your C: HD is too full; try moving some stuff
to D:.

By the way, are C: and D: separate HDs, or merely partitions
of the same HD? Most laptops only have one real HD.

Frank, it sounds like you need a larger Hard drive.
As low as the prices are now, that would be a good way to go,
As an alternate Idea, Re-install XP to the full size of your Hard drive.
6 GB is a good size for XP.

This may not be the only problems. Will your onboard video work with XP? And
how about your modem, network card, etc? Go to www.sonystyle.com to see if
they have upgrade info for your laptop. Check at the MS website for
compatibility. Do this before you try to upgrade to XP.
