Volume Slider

Hello,
The little speaker icon at botom left of desktop, when I open it and slide
bar up, it comes all the way back down again so I can't get any sound.

I've also tried going in to the sound and audio device properties, the
device slider bar is on low, when I adjust slider to where I want, it moves
to low again, same thing from start, control panel, sounds and audio.

The other thing is when I do move slider up, large green letters saying
volume appear briefly on my desktop, I want to stop this.

Sound works fine if I can get my slider bar to stay up.

I have my sound setting in my system tray. It behaves very nicely from
there. Can you move yours to your system tray? The only problem I have
once in a while is players changing the wav file volume (and cranking it
up too high) without any way of controlling that.

I made an error in my orignal post, I said, "the little speaker icon at
botom left of desktop," it should have read "botom right", so the speaker
icon is already in my system tray.

Do you have any other thoughts on this problem.

The only thing I can imagine is that something else on your system is
muting the volume. Do you have a multimedia player that runs a lot of
the time, and gets muted?
