You tell us. It's by design and a big fat pain in most people's behinds.

Well, you're right about Opera and I use it myself on occasion. However,
there are some sites with which it just doesn't work well.

Or the latest Mozilla (not sure if it works as well as it does in Linux, but
it'd be worth a try).

In this case it means when the browser is sent to a site and the user is in
another application, once the browser reached the site it essentially comes
to the front, pulling you out of the other application and placing the
browser up front on the desktop. It can be most disconcerting.

In a broader sense, it's any application that might do this when you open it
and while you are in another application.

Hi Humberto,

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]

Modify the existing value named 'ForegroundLockTimeout', change the value to
either the timeout required, or to '0' which causes the application to take
the focus instantly. The default value is '200000' (0x00030d40 hex).

This settings affects the number of times the icon flashes if above value
was not set to zero.

The value is called 'ForegroundFlashCount' set the value (in decimal) to the
number times to flash the taskbar icon, setting the value to '0' causes the
icon to flash infinitely. The default value is '3'.
