Subject: Using video output to TV input
I am trying to get my laptop to put the computer screen
up on the TV so that I may present a program.  I know it
is possible, but I have not figured out how to make both
work at the same time.  I want to use the computer screen
for me and have it show on the TV for the audience.  My
husband has no trouble getting his (windows 2000) to
work, but my home xp will only show one at a time.  Can
any one help me?  Is this a problem for xp or toshiba?
Linda

It could be a monitor and video card driver problem. I have the TV out on my
ATI video card and I used to use a Sony Trinitron monitor. Could always get
the picture on monitor and tv at same time no prob. I then switched to a
Samsung LCD monitor with same ATI video card and now the monitor loses sync
when tv picture is up and I can only see one at a time. Occationally they
will both all of a sudden work, but it's rare. The only difference in the
setup was the new monitor so I assume it the monitor drivers. I did try the
monitor with a different new ATI video card and it all seems to work fine.
So it looks like the combo of the video card/drivers and the monitor drivers
just don't jive. I would just try updating all your drivers, maybe it will
help.

Thanks for that information.  I will look into that.

This may be a longshot, Linda, but you might also check the refresh rate for
the second monitor, i.e. the TV.
