Cutting a long story short in order to optimise my system I had to change
from ACPI to Standard PC mode.

Now that I want to turn that annoying 'sticky keys' thing off I don't seem
to have access to Accessability Options. I may well have accidently turned
it off somewhere down the line but I can't remember how.

How could I have turned Accessability Options off is the question? More to
the point how do I reinstall it? In previous operating systems it was part
of the Add/remove windows components system.

Any help will be greatfully received.

Cheers,

LX

Press the shift key 5 time in succession. It should disable itself automatically. If not, repeat again and you'll get a dialog asking if you want to use Sticky key, you can change the Accessibility settings here by clicking Settings.

If you feel you need to crosspost, please do so in the same message.

The point is that when I click Settings Accessibility settings do not come
up. It's as if they have been removed from my system! I take your point
about cross-posting btw.

You can enable the Accessibility Wizard in Add/Remove, Windows Components by editing SYSOC.INF

Click Start, Run and enter %windir%\inf\sysoc.inf

Locate the following line:

AccessOpt=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,optional.inf,HIDE,7

Remove only the word "HIDE", leaving the two commas. Accessibility Wizard will now show up in Windows Components. Uninstall, then reinstall.

Now I've got my Accessibility Options back, I find that even though Sticky
Keys is off this dialog box saying

"Pressing the SHIFT key 5 times turns on StickyKeys. StickyKeys lets you use
the SHIFT, CTRL, ALT, or Windows Logo keys by pressing one key at a time.

To keep StickyKeys on, click OK.
To cancel StickyKeys, click Cancel.
To deactivate the key combination for StickyKeys, click Settings."

keeps on comming up after consecutive presses of the SHIFT key. I am trying
to play a DOS-based Space Invaders game )for nostalgic purposes!) that uses
the LEFT SHIFT key as a fire button (it is not reconfigurable). The above
dialog box message keeps breaking up the party! How do I barr it?

Cheers,

LX
