I was reconnecting to our cable internet the other night and wanted to see if
a program had installed. Looked in "Add/Remove programs" , under "currently
installed programs" and there are only two programs listed. Nothing else
shows up here. The "missing" apps themselves are still installed and
working. Any ideas on fixing this?

Was there a scrollbar?
Did you try scrolling down?
Sometimes a large white space appears between programs.

No, no scroll bar. I looked for that.

Try this:

It was written for Win9x but can happen in XP.

All Installed Programs May Not Be Displayed in the Add/Remove Programs
Tool
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=240348

I have fixed several of these recently for others.
The problem will occur in these two situations:

1. The uninstall keyname for an application is greater than 63
characters.
Solution: Rename the keyname.
e.g. this is invalid
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234]

2. The DisplayName for the key is greater than 63 characters.
Solution: Shorten DisplayName
e.g. this is invalid
"DisplayName"="1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234"

*** Note that the invalid entry that can cause this is not necessarily
connected with the ones missing so you must check all entries.

If you need a second opinion, export the key to a Registration file
and email it to me.

Okay, my face is red.... I looked again last night and found there is a
scroll bar, and sure enough, further down (WAY further down) were the other
programs. But that gap you told me about is HUGE. Holding down the mouse
button, it took over 10 seconds to see the rest of the group. Any fix for
that?

Thank you... Please see my second reply to Frank Saunders. There was a
scroll bar present, and the rest of my programs showed up several dozen
screen lengths down. Does your fix remove a huge gap like this?
