1. Delete the Windows XP partition.
2. Create a new partition.
3. Format the new partition FAT32.
4. Install your desired Operating System.

If the backup option was not used, or has been since removed, or you
converted to the NTFS file system, then the only way back to Win98 is to
format (and possibly repartition) and do a clean installation.

It's only in Add/Remove if you did an upgrade installation,
elected to save the original operating system, and didn't convert
to NTFS. Since one or more of those things is apparently not
true, you can't uninstall it, and must therefore do a clean
installation of 98.

If you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to backup the
old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS, then all
you need do is boot into Safe Mode and Start > Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions _must_ be met for the
uninstall option to be available.
