More specifically, can I make the All Programs menu ALWAYS show in sorted
order? When I install a new program, I HATE having the program group or
shortcut placed on the bottom of the list. I want it to automatically go to
its proper alphabetical location, because I'm only going to hit Sort by name
anyways. Any registry tweak for this?

No, this is by design.

I'm SO glad MS decided to "fix" this. After all, Windows 95 was such an
UNPOPULAR operating system*, so I guess it's a good thing that Windows
doesn't behave that way any more....

Damn, now I've got to wipe the sarcasm off the keyboard.

* What did it sell, like 12, 13 copies worldwide? Maybe 14? Yeah. Right.

I deleted the 'order' value under:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Start Menu2\Programs

and then edited the key permissions to deny 'setvalue' permission to myself. Have tested with one
install & it seems to be working...
