I posted yesterday problems with unwanted desktop icons
reappearing constantly. I have deleted thes icons and
removed them from the recycle bin but the still reappear.
I have run Adaware and spybot on the machine and it has
picked up some dubious entries which I have deleted. I
have rebooted the machine and STILL the icons reappear.
Please does someone know another method of how to get rid
of these icons.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Peter Flint.
Try also scanning your computer with Anti Virus software
just to be sure. If the icon problems still persist.
You could have a corrupt icons file.
To fix this.
Use Windows Explorer Show Hidden Files and Folders and
then browse to:
C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local
Settings\Application Data\Iconcache.db
Delete the Iconcache.db file and reboot. Upon reboot the
Iconcache.db will be recreated... and should fix your
icon problems

Yes, by removing the program that's putting the icons on your desktop.
