To All:

Windows XP disabled many of my 98/ME screensavers. Savers
such as: Mystery, Jungle, Dangerous Creatures,
Underwater, etc.

I found the remedy on the web and would like to share it.
Here goes:

Download kidsplusd.exe from several places on the web or
Microsofts own ftp site. I found it at
www.fishlinkcentral.com/software/themes/underwater.htm
I later found it on my ME re-installation CD.

Use winzip to open the file. Do not run setup.exe, it
will not work. Right-click on demothm1.cab and extract
into your C:Windows\System 32 folder.

Locate the disabled screensaver. For example, XP renamed
some of mine such as Mystery.scr.disabled or
Underwater.scr.disabled. Right-click on the file and
rename it minus the .disabled suffix.Windows will ask if
you want to do this and try to scare you by saying that
the file may become unstable. Click YES. Copy and paste
the newly renamed screensaver file into your Windows32
directory (the same place that you put the extracted
demothm1.cab files).

Right-click on any of the renamed screensavers that you
renamed and pasted. Choose test. It should work. I
reactivated six or so screensavers that XP ".disabled"
for me without my consent.

I found a program called Desktop Architect (freeware) and
used it to find many of the ME wallpaper files that XP
can't seem to find. Oddly enough, Desktop Architect found
all of my newly renamed and working ME screensavers, but,
refers to all of them as Wildlife32. That is the name of
a .dll file needed to run the screensavers I think.

Thanks Microsoft
Good Luck to ALL
