Windows XP SP3 Preview download
Alceryes
The GA download is quick (FL link was really slow).
Note this is only a collection of .exe updates zipped together. There is no
general installer from MS yet (there is one over at www.thehotfix.net
though.)
I would recommend installing this for *testing purposes only*.
Many of these fixes are NOT available from Windows update but, by that same
token, many have not been fully tested yet.

And I recommend that you be contacted for all support questions, since
you were the one that brought it to the groups attention.

You would be well advised to stay clear of this FAKE SP3 package.
It is NOT suitable for testing as it is NOT SP3.
If is just a collection of hotfixes and other updates we have released. It
will not update your Windows XP system to SP3
It also contains a number of private " hotfixes that are usually only issued
to users with a specific identifiable problem. The hotfixes are not as
rigorously tested at public released ones this is why we ask you to call PSS
to get them so we can track you and provide further assistance such as new
versions of the fixes etc as they become available. Just installing all the
"privates" on your PC may make you machine LESS stable and will also put you
out of support from Microsoft or an OEM as you are installing incorrectly
issued private hotfixes.
Frankly this "package" should be avoid and you should continue to use
Windows Update and the download site to get the most up-to-date and
correctly issued Microsoft fixes and patches.
Anyone who installs this thinking they are getting SP3 (even as a preview)
is being grossly mislead and is posing a significant potentially non
recoverable risk to their PC and data.

packaged within.
Updates for the OS should *ONLY* be obtained directly from Microsoft.

wrong as well. As I said before maybe I should not have used the words
"Service Pack" and I am sorry for any confusion caused to those less

If some patches are NOT for the public there is a reason such as possibility of OS
corruption or conflict By packaging them publicly there is a greater propensity for end
user problems.
There is also the possibility that a Trojan or other malware has been inserted into the
software.
No it can NOT be trusted and should not be used. One who understands INFOSEC and COMSEC
should not even advice others about it.
It was a mistake to post this information and you need to realize this.

You are the only one using the SP moniker. Both your links also claim
to be SP3. They don't have SP3.

It is a fake since it is not a MS-prepaired compilation of patches. If
I build a car from parts and I sell it or even give it away as a
Mercedes, is it a really a Mercedes? No, it is a fake.
