Hi,

Microsoft Update does not work. I tried FixIt but I need .Net and
since I can't update the new install I don't have .Net.

No firewalls are on.

I need definitely need help to fix. Thanks.

Hi,

I manually installed SP3 (my install disk had up to sp2) and after that I could update. So it's fixed. Thanks.

Only SP3 is supported via Windows Update.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-windows_update/error-number-0x80244019-in-windows-xp-home-sp2/45a061db-84e9-424b-b4bc-65ad8b1faac9

I don't think SP2 would be.

And you can get a lot of stuff as
redistributable files. I have some .NET files and
some Service Packs that way, for emergencies.
You'd at least want to keep the SP3 redistributable
around for yourself. I think I have all four service
packs here, but a couple of them weren't downloaded
from trusted sources (weren't available at the time).
SP1a removes Java, from SP1. From SP1a, there is
no Microsoft Java in the install - you use Sun Java
instead if you actually needed it.
