Hi,
I cannot run any of Windows XP's built-in screensavers. Merely selecting the
screensaver in the dialog causes the control panel applet to lock when the
small preview should begin. Killing the applet results in a complete system
lock approximately one minute later. (Also causing a similar problem is the
3D flag screensaver from MS.) I have absolutely no problems running any
other D3D aand OpenGL applications. Does anyone have any ideas on this or
pointers to some place where this problem has been discussed or resolved?

A7N8X Dlx nForce2 motherboard
GeForce 4 Ti 4600
AMD 2600+ CPU
2 x 512 MB DDR
WinXP SP1 fully up to date as of date of this post

Thank you for any assistance,
CygnusX1

Hmmmm seems to be version conflicts with somesoftware that has been
installed (not meant to happen with XP though...LOL)

Try start, run, sfc / scannow It will check your system files.

Ok. I feel like a heel now. This has been bugging me for months, I finally
post here, and then resolve it within a couple of hours.
It appears that running the SETI@Home command line client as a service is
causing this issue. Stop the service, the screen savers run fine.
