A non-keyboard, non- MS Word problem.

For a week word processing is skipping 5 or 10 spaces in MS Word
and email servers. Done, checked, scanned, replaced, detected and
repaired everything, but nothing works.

Backspace backspaces one space and advances five.

Example:

T h is is th e t im
e f or a l l g o od m e
n to co me t o t he
a id of t he ir p ar t y .

Entered letter once: a a a a
Entered letter twice: aa a a aa aa a
a aa a a a a a a

Entered letter thrice: aa aa aa a aa
a aa a
a

Held down key: aaaaa aaaaa aaaaa aaaaa aaaa aaaaa
aaaaa aaaaa aaaaa aaaa aaaaa aa

Any help would be appreciated!

What program are you using for word processing?
Have you tried WordPad or notepad?

In address lines and Google search windows, ad infinitum!

Seems to be in a " path" somewhere.

What a bummer!

Thx,

You should tell us how you determined that this is not a keyboard problem.
Also - does the problem happen in Safe Mode too?

My first guess would be that your keyboard's Space bar is sticking. You sure
your keyboard is free of food and clutter?

Went away for awhile when I downloaded Open Office and
again when I removed some recent software downloads, But always
comes back.

This means that some agent that loads in Normal Mode but not in Safe Mode is
the culprit. Click Start/Run, then run msconfig.exe and untick each and
every task under the Startup tab. Now bring them back selectively, rebooting
each time, until you have isolated the culprit, then report back here.

Remember to physically disconnect your machine from the Internet while your
virus scanner tasks are disabled.
