I am testing the latest QFEs for my XPE FP 2007 image. I have a
Winlogon image running explorer shell. After the system sits idle on
the Welcome Screen long enough for the "my pictures slideshow" screen
saver to become active then it is not possible to enter a password.
I have seen this exact problem described in other newsgroups here:
and here:
And have tried the following fixes with no success:
a). Execute regsvr32 shgina.dll (Shows register success, behavior not
changed)
b) Check contents of HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
\Winlogon
"UserInit" key to be sure it does not contain
"WSAupdater.exe" (Spyware)
as described in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=892893
This value is unchanged from my previous release, and is:
"Userinit"="C:\Windows\System32\Userinit.exe,%Windir%
\System32\Userinit.exe,"
Several newsgroup posts have described this as beginning after the Oct
06 updates were applied to the XP Pro installations. My previous
release build is from Aug 30th, so this is the first time I have
tested these updates.
Since I am not seeing any solutions that fix this problem, I am
thinking that it is a candidate for submission to MS as a bug. Has
anyone else seen this behavior and/or any fixes that work?
Thanks
Steves
