LPD service support & setup on Win XP Pro

Hello Win XP forum teams,

Could you pls advise, whether or not LPD print services are supported on Win
XP Pro platform?
In Win 2000 platform LPD utility is included in Print Services for UNIX
which provides both LPR and LPD servives
and enables Win 2k to act as Unix Print Server?
According to the following MSDN help site:

The LPD service is embedded in Win XP platform? But there is no reference
about how to setup.
Could you pls assist?

Hard to imagine how you could have crossposted to so many groups yet missed
the one group most likely to have a response. On the Outlook Express
toolbar, click newsgroups, type windowsxp.print_fax in the search box,
select it from the list, click the "Go To" button and try the question
there.

Print Services for Unix provides both LPR and LPD services, which act
independently on a print server computer. LPD is run on the print server
computer to allow the server to accept jobs from LPR clients such as UNIX
systems. LPR is an option for computers running Windows XP Professional to
submit jobs to UNIX servers running LPD.
LPDSVC on the print server receives documents from native LPR utilities
running on client UNIX computers.
LPRMON on the print server sends print jobs to native LPD processes on UNIX
computers to which printers are attached.
By default, the LPD service is set to start manually. To have it start
automatically, change the startup options for the TCP/IP print server
service in Services. You need the Windows XP Professional compact disk to
install the services on a computer running Windows XP Professional.
