Your computer will be a lot (and I mean a lot) quicker if you do. Another stupid office feature. All windows delay showing their contents, while this is on, for 1/2 a second (which is excessve latency) in case you want to scribble on it (which noone does or would want to).

Office, the only Worm people pay thousands of dollars for.

hey David the MS website says that i have to unregister 2 dlls to unistall
ctfmon.exe compltely. Is it necessary to uninstall the dlls or i can just
disable it from running form
HKCU/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run ? The problem is that i
may want to use it in the future so i dont not want to unregister the dlls.

Thanx

To stop it slowing down the computer you just need to do the control panel thing. Once it has nothing to do it sits in memory quitely not affecting anything (much). That's all I do I leave it enabled but turn off the silly scribble on open windows, handwriting (doesn't work well with a mouse).

Disabling it msconfig won't stop it starting (other things start it).

So I did Step 2 only (not 1) and it behaves itself.
