Hello friends and neighbors,
Can anyone steer me in the right direction to solving this problem? Thanks much in advance.... -- Claude
The following message appears on my laptop (XP) during booting. If it's not a home fix job with the original CD, Norton, etc, is it something a computer repair shop could fix? Or is it better to remove the hard drive and recover the data on another computer?... more »

Microsoft Security Essentials
|
| |
When I click the little red shield, it tells me that Microsoft Security7
Essentials says it is turned off.
When I go to Securiry Essentials, it tells me it is monitoring my PC and
helping to protect it, and that real-time protection is on.

....

System Restore
|
| |
When I do a System Restore it goes thru its usual steps and after rebooting
itself it says that it can not restore to that restore point.
I even tried on some earlier restore points and got the same message.
How can I repair this problem?

|
| |
For the last month or so my firewall (Zone Alarm) has been
busy asking permission to permit numerous questionable
programs to connect with my computer. The programs seem to
be part of Windows Live Essentials and Windows Security
Essentials. I have XP(MCE), to which Microsoft evidently
installed the two 'Essential' programs listed above. I... more »
