I am running Windows XP with SP1
IExplore version: 6.0.2800.1106

Java applets will not load. An example of trying to load
an applet would be playing "Spades" and games.yahoo.com

No error message appears, the window just goes blank and
the Java applet never loads.

I have checked the following KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;315674

But i did not see the option for "Microsoft VM"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I followed Yahoo's Help section:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/games/games-09.html
But following the above, i do not see anything about Java
permissions, the only thing i do see in any security zone
is: "Scripting of Java Applets" which is set to "Enable".
I downloaded Suns java plug-in from:
http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html
This allowed the java applets to be loaded, however
things were really bad, sluggish, IE locking up, applets
taking forever to load.
I'm not sure if this has ever worked since my install is
only 2 days old.
Am i missing something? Is there a plug-in from
Microsoft? Or perhaps a setting i am missing to allow the
Java applets to load?
(I have removed Sun's Java plug-in)
TIA,
i would stick with the sun plugin. its working great for
me. microsoft discontinued the java thingy in explorer
6.0. however i thought they realized their mistake and
made a plugin for it. if the applet is working but is
slow, this may not be an issue with something on your
computer, rather who ever is providing the service i.e.
yahoo... are you on a dial-up?
I am on dialup, but the funny thing is that this was
working when i was running XP standard edition just 3
days ago with SP1. I have rebuilt my box using the
Enterprise edition and service packed it.
So basically, it has always worked before this latest
install of XP....
That is an idea to keep Sun's plug-in, but it's very hard
to do that when i have never had to do that before and
the performance/output is horrible....
Okay, i downloaded the "microsoft VM", installed it, set
the appropriate security settings, and everything is
working great.
Go to windows Update and look for the Critical Security update 810030 -
if it is not offered direct, explore in the Windows Update Catalog link.
Download and install, to bring the MS Java VM up to date
