You can also select the option to boot the system in safe mode and then
perform the system restore. Try the steps from the below link:

If you can get to the startup menu by tapping F8 continually right after
booting, select Safe Mode from the list. If it will boot to Safe Mode you can
try two different things:
1) At the desktop in Safe Mode:
Right click My Computer.
Click Properties in the popup menu.
Click the Advanced tab.
In the section "Startup and Recovery" click the Settings button.
If the checkmark is present in the box labeled "Automatically Restart", click on
the box to remove the checkmark.
Click Ok > Apply > Ok.
Reboot.
The machine should not reboot (auto restart) when the problem occurs and you
should get the BSOD with information on the possible cause for the stop error.
2) Right click My Computer.
Click Properties in the popup menu.
Click the Hardware tab.
Click the Device Manager button.
In Device Manager disable your Realtek device. It may state that it's needed
and can't be disabled, continue to try anyway as sometimes the will still be
able to be disabled.
Once done, close out back to the desktop and reboot.

Thanks for all the input. But i'm unable to opt for the mentioned solution.
When i turn on the system the acer screen appears and i have an option to
enter BIOS setup since i have an option Press <f2> to enter setup at the
bottom of the screen. If i don't select any options after the acer screen
logo there is a blank black screen. But after entering BIOS, certain
functions are disabled. For example i'm unable to use the arrow keys to move
left,right or up,down. Only F1 and F9 & F10 are enabled.
