Every time I click on "check for updates" it does not start at all. It says "windows cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer." I restart my computer and same thing happens again and again.

I can't find my CDs from my computer - so it won't let me install Service Pack 3 without them. Is this a problem for me? Will my CD run properly without the Pack 3? Repeated update failures hidden

When repeated failures for 3 updates started in mid-October, I changed auto-update to download-but-ask-to-install. Mid-November, I turned auto-update back on and now there are repeated failures for 6 updates. I am concerned by repeated install attempts and failures. Recently had a crash. I used the restore disks to put back to factory settings. I can not do any updates. The computer kept restarting. It is an AMD 2500. 1 gig memory. Vista Service pack 2 won't install

Hey, anyone have any ideas why SP 2 won't install. It went through the downloading process, restarted the system, and tried to continue the install, ran 2 hours with 0 progress. Updated Vista to SP2, and can't boot up.

I've been running Vista on Service Pack 1 for some time, and tonight I tried for the second time to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 for x64 systems (KB948465).
