error code 0x8009200d also website encountered a problem.......

it started on sunday night windows live messenger doesnt remember names and
passwords, when you try to enter email addy in box it wont, then mouse
pointer disappears behind messenger box, then update icon appeared in taskbar
beside clock so clicked on it but said cumulative security update for IE 6
failed to install for win xp kb931768, so entered windows update site and
recieved error code 0x8009200d website encountered a problem and cannot
display the page you are trying to view. i have stopped anti virus and
firewall and spyware....this seemed to have happened after an update on
friday night, didnt boot up pc again till sunday then all problems started.
please can someone help my pc is my lifeline. thanks mandy
