I got the exact same error.
Manually updating doesn't work either.

Thank you
Hi,
I have the same problem as everyone here with this update. Not only
cannot I not update KB942763 but everytime now when I turn on my
computer the automatic update feature keeps trying to download and
install the update and now my update window in the control panel is
filling up with failed messages and still showing that I need to
downoad and install an update. This is very annoying. I've been
working with Microsoft support regarding this problem but to no
avail. You would think that M$ would have some clue! Also, since
this update is for Daylight Savings and since my clock/date shows the
next daylight savings begins March 9th that this update wouldn't be
necessary in the first place. M$ still hasn't answered that point so
I can't tell you here.
FWIW, same problem here with Win VISTA Ultimate.
Quite a bit of chatter on the net about this.
MS has been very quiet. Maybe they will have a fix!?
WLW
You can hide this update in WU Home in the Hidden Folder.
Then when a fix comes out it is there ready to install.
But I don't think you are using Vista like the others.
Also, set your update preference to 'Notify' when updates are offered - then
you can pick a time, and the continuing DL/Install will stop.

I don't know if my other posting went through so here's another one.
I AM using Vista Home Premium. I'll go to control panel and make the
change. Thanks.
Where is the Microsoft Rep when you need one?
I had the same problem, finally got it installed by uninstalling Comodo
Personal Firewall. I don't know how many of you are using 3rd party
firewalls, maybe try uninstalling them to see what happens??
Jon
Fasrind [Jon],
You were 100% correct. I uninstalled Comodo and the update downloaded
successfully. Thanks a bunch. Seems that M$ might only like its own
software - typical of them.
I've confirmed it. COMODO 3 is blocking the install.
The firewall is somehow blocking the install of the update. My guess
would be the background process. Even if you disable or close the
Firewall, its still running and there is no way to kill it other than
uninstalling the software first.
Someone will have to report this to the COMODO people.
I can't say that this particular firewall is the only one with this
problem but I do know that after uninstalling it through the control
panel I was able to install the update. This problem may be with all
third-party firewalls. I didn't reinstall Comodo [use Vista own
firewall which I understand is OK].
Now isn't this a hoot. I'm using COMODO ver. 3 also.
My question is which do I want, the update or Comodo?
WLW
To All
It is a general advice that it can help if all AV/Firewall/Antispyware etc
are disabled, and progs running in the background, after disconnecting from
the net, of course.
Enable before connecting back onto the net.

No! I did not reinstall COMODO after uninstalling it. I am using
Vista's own firewall [I made sure that I turned it on again]
which I understand from other forums is just fine. I hope someone out
there contacted COMODO and told them how their software is blocking
update downloads in Vista.
I am using Vista Business and did try the Office Source Engine service
manipulation as suggested but failed to fix the issue!

I got the problem, too.
My system is Lenovo ThinkPad R61 with Vista Business, Office 2007 and
"COMODO Firewall."
After reading the discussions that many people installed COMODO on their
computer, I decide to uninstall it and update again, and it works!
So, the problem is COMODO.

I found the solution and it worked for me. I hope this will help you.
Note: Removing the following registry keys may reset customized user
settings for your Microsoft Office programs.
1. Close all the applications.
2. Click on Start->Run, type in REGEDIT and click on OK.
3. Locate and select the following registry subkeys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
4. Right click on 11.0 and rename them to Old11.
5. Close the Registry Editor.
2nd. Detect and Repair Office 2003
1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to and click Control
Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click Change/Remove Programs on the left pane.
4. Highlight Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 on the right
pane
and click Change.
5. Insert the correct version of CD when it requires. (It didn't ask
me)
6. Select "Reinstall and Repair" and click Next.
7. Select "Detect and Repair errors in my Office installation".
8. Click Install and wait the process to end.
3rd. Install the Updates
