I used to have my Windows XP downloaded all updates and I just click install
and it will install all updates. But recently my Windows only downloaded 1
update at a time. ie. I have to manually install each update before Windows
download another update. I have tried all different automatic update settings
but nothing change. How do I get Windows to download all updates at once and
I just install all of them at once?

Have you tried setting Auto Update to inform but not download or install?

yes, I tried all 3 settings: "Automatic", "Download updates but let me choose
when to install" and "notify me but don't autmatically download or install".
You suggested the 3rd settings, and Windows only notify me 1 update and after
installed it, Windows notify me of another update.

When was the last time you updated? If I recall correctly, there were
two a month or two ago that required being installed individually. Once
installed, you get a slew of new ones.

Sorry, my bad. I wasn't paying attention to the updates installer message. It
was actually saying failed to install and Windows kept suggesting to install
the update. That's why it kept popping up the install update.

So, I tried going to Windows update center and let it scan my computer for
updates. Then Microsoft tried to install the Genuine Advantage update but
this also failed. And now all updates failed to install.

Any suggestion?

Do have Norton or McAfee?

no, I have AVG as my antivirus. I have tried to disable that but nothing
changed. Awhile ago I tried to download the update and install it manually,
and it went through alright. Then Windows startedith the next update which
was the Genuine advantage tool and this failed to update.

Don't know what to tell you, then, although I see no reason why you
should install the Genuine Advantage spyware.

One last suggestion. Download, install and run CCleaner's clean up
feature. Get it at www.ccleaner.com/ Do the clean up after a reboot. If
you have any anti spyware/malware apps like Spybot or Spywareblaster,
disable them before attempting the updates.

The problem was fixed by registering wups2.dll. Anyway, thx for your replies
and suggestions.
