I am running Office 2007 on XP Pro, without any older Office programs (Front
Page, etc) on the system. (WU is on auto.) However, WU keeps downloading KB
972580, KB974554 and KB947319 (Security Office Web) and they fail to install.
They have taken residence in the machine and have turned into nag-ware, but
I feel like I need to check to make sure there isn't anything else that needs
to be installed.

How can I tell my OS/machine to ignore these updates and leave me alone?

Turn off Automatic Updates for now. Set it to manual.

Visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/, hide the updates after a custom
scan.

Turn back on automatic updates - but tell it to not download or install
until you tell it to. If it comes up again - check through the updates and
uncheck the ones you do not want. When you continue - it will ask if you
want to hide the ones you unchecked - tell it yes.

Then you can change the settings on AU back to whatever you desire.

Did you ever have any older versins of any office products installed? The
viewers even (any version of the Word viewer...)?
