KB920214, KB920683, KB921398, KB922616 -- why won't they install?

I've never had any issues w/Windows or Microsoft Update until today's patch
release. Some installed, but KB920214, KB920683, KB921398, and KB922616 will
not install either via Automatic Updates, or by me downloading the file from
MS Downloads and running it myself. Each of them fails w/the same sequence
of errors in the install logs:

1) GetCatVersion: Failed to retrieve version information from
C:\WINNT\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\KB920214.cat
with error 0x57
2) InstallSingleCatalogFile: MyInstallCatalog failed for KB920214.cat;
error=0xfffffbfe.
3) DoInstallation:MyInstallCatalogFiles failed:STR_CATALOG_INSTALL_FAILED

These catalog file it's looking for does not exist in CatRoot, which is no
doubt the leading the failure to retrieve info from it later on, but I don't
see any unusual errors in the log until this set. I tried two obvious and
easy possible fixes:

1) Rebuilding AU by stopping Automatic Updates server, deleting
\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, and then restarting AU.

2) Rebuild CatRoot2 by stopping Cryptographic Services, deleting
\Windows\System32\CatRoot2, and then restarting the Cryptographic service.

Neither worked. This is confusing for me b/c only these 3 particular
updates fail, the rest that were offered today installed just fine. Any
ideas?

I had a similar problem. I just added my login to the group of
"Administrators" on the machine that I was updating and the error went away.
I was surprised that I was not already a member of the group...I must have
missed it when I set up the machine...
