I recently got a new hard drive and have been busily getting all my stuff
back onto it. I got the Windows SP3 update, and two other updates, but now
whenever I try to install my stuff it says "FAILED" and then gives an error
code.

How do I get around this?

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation

I have spent hours trying to solve failed updates since installing SP3. This
worked. So thank you very much. And I'd like to suggest the fix be brought
forward into a more accessable place.

Cheers,

Mark.
