How do I uninstall a Windows Update? The recent update to my speakers
rendered them to half volume no matter what I do to tweak the speakers. Who
needs this?

Run System Restore.

There is absolutely *no need* to use System Restore for this issue, Bonnie.

Just roll back the driver for the soundcard.
Open Control Panel, then System
Click the Hardware tab
Click the Device Manager button
Click the plus sign next to Sound, video, and game controllers

Click on the *name* of the sound card.
Ex: Creative or Soundblaster or Santa Cruz

Now click Action on the menu bar and choose Properties
Click the Driver tab
Click the Roll Back Driver button.
Reboot if prompted to.

And, *only* install drivers if there is an issue with hardware, *not*
when Windows Update offers them. Visit the manufacturer's web site for
the most recent drivers.
