If relating to a driver - the driver you are trying to install is already
installed or the driver that you're trying to install is an older driver
than the one you have already.

All drivers should be obtained from the manufacturer's site rather than from
Windows Update.

I've been having the SAME problem, including the same error code. I too
reached the conclusion reached by the other poster that the driver I have is
installed is the correct driver.

Out of curiosity, is your laptop an Acer Aspire 4530? Or at least an Aspire
series? Mine is an Aspire 4530, and after checking Acer's website, I've found
there is NO newer driver than what we already have.

You should be able to safely hide this update. Please do let me know your
model if you also have an Acer. Thanks!

yes it is an aspire, it is an acer 5536 aspire model. I just choose to ignore
the update from windows update each time.

I have had the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5735-4774 laptop. Update
fails even though my driver shows in Device Manager as 4/21/2009 and the
Update version is 5/31/2009. The only thing I have seen like this was when I
tried to fix my non functional usb card reader. Acer tech and I finally
figured out that you had to shut off Restore Point in order to make the
driver 'take', then turn restore back on. If your wireless is working ok, I
say the hell with it.
