Hi,

I have Windows Vista Home Premium

I don't see "service pack 1" when I look at my computer properties.

I have a 32-bit Operating system

When look in windows update, I shows that I'm current. But my system
doesn't show that I have windows vista service pack 1.

Is there a service pack 1 for home premium 32-bit OS?

I read that it would stabilize a video editing software that I'm using. I
keeps crashing my computer. Its Vegas Pro 8.0.

You can test what version you have and much more information by downloading
Belarc Advisor from http://www.belarc.com

To help you with that, and anyone else reading this, I'll post a few tips
that I have stickied over at the forum where I Moderate, edited of course.

Enable the built-in Windows Firewall.
Start/Control Panel/Security/Windows Firewall - turn it ON

Disable any software firewall and anti-virus permanently, as SP1 requires a
reboot or two before completing.
If you have any other protection software such as SpywareBlaster etc. turn
off its protection too.

Just don't forget to reverse the above when it's installed.

You should now be ready for SP1. If for any reasons you have problems using
the Windows Update download, there is a standalone SP1 download available
here: Download details: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language
Standalone (KB936330) :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B0C7136D-5EBB-413B-89C9-CB3D06D12674&displaylang=en

For more information abut Service Pack 1, see this web site: What is Service
Pack 1?:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/sp1.mspx and
if you have some problems see Microsoft's Help & Support options**.

Microsoft offers free support for Vista SP1 until March 18, 2009
HERE:https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?ln=en-us&prid=11274&gprid=500921
**

Note that support link is free only for SP1 issues, nothing else.

They have, however, always offered free support for any Microsoft/Windows
Updates - related issues.

**Windows Live ID/MSN ID Sign-In Required.

Ok, I looked at the page:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B0C7136D-5EBB-413B-89C9-CB3D06D12674&displaylang=en

And see in bolded capital letters:" DO NOT CLICK DOWNLOAD IF YOU ARE
UPDATING JUST ONE COMPUTER: A smaller, more appropriate download is available
on Windows Update. "

I'm only updating one computer. If I click on the windows update, it
doesn't show service pack 1 as an update. Should I still go ahead with the
download if I have only one computer?

I would NOT recommend attempting to install Vista SP1 manually unless and
until it's offered by Windows Update.

Open a free support incident.

Ok,

I didn't know we could Open a free support incident.

Where do we go to do that? I tried to look for a way to contact microsoft
directly, but I only found this service.

I really appreciate your time by the way.

Can you tell me where I can open a free support incident?
