Can not install kaspersky 2009 nor any of the microsoft latest updates

I've been having all kinds of problems. IE keeps giving me an error message
windows service pack has encountered a problem and needs to close but it
doesn't; I can't do windows updates (have 9 to do); I can't establish a new
