Don't use hardware drivers from MS. Get it from Acer.....
Well in my Acer website it doesn't give ANY Windows version at all - it just
says that the driver is for "Windows". Have you actually tried installing
it? It's a Zip file......
here's the page:
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/monitor/al1916w.html
Are you installing it as an administrator?
Have you tried unzipping to a folder and updating the driver through Device
Manager?
Sounds like you're SOL then. Doesn't vista have a generic LCD driver?
I extracted the MS .cab file into a folder, and still no luck. It would be
preferable for Windows Update to install the .cab file as WU does not
download an optional update because it only sees a generic monitor.
I'll see what else I can do from here. Thanks for your help!
Unless this driver was offered by Windows Update *and* Vista SP1 has not
been offered by Windows Update yet, leave well enough alone. If Acer offers
the update and it's applicable to your machine, you might install that one.
Ask Acer how to install it.
