suddenly for some reason i have no administrative rights to do anything. i
try to use microsoft update services and it wont let me download updates
because i have no rights to do so anymore.

1) Which edition of Windows and what Service Pack level, please ?
For XP, *right* click My Computer either on the Desktop or Start Menu
and choose Properties. The information is under System:
For Vista \Win7, *right* click Computer either on the Desktop or Start
Menu and choose Properties. The information is under 'Windows edition'
2) How long has this updating issue been happening ?
Please make another attempt at updating. When it fails open the
WindowsUpdate.log and copy&paste the last 50 or so lines into your reply.

For me is nearly the same prob: Error-Code Fehlernummer: 0x80070002
I use Vista Home Premium SP2 German.
The error occurs if I want to set from Windows Update to Microsoft Update -
the ActiveX-File is installed, the Service controls the right update
integration and only the error occurs and it says, microsoft update is not
installabel.
At first, I have the same error as dukesgirl, no administrative rights.
After this, I disabled UAC,and now the error above occurs :-/
Any idea (and sorry for my maybe bad english).

The issue is being caused by *not* opening Internet Explorer in what is
known as an Elevated mode or by the installed security software
(antivirus/security suite/3rd party firewall/etc).
Open Internet Explorer from the Start Menu or Desktop shortcut by
*right* clicking it and choosing 'Run as administrator'.
Enter a password if one is used and click Continue.
If no password is used just click the Continue button.
Neither option will appear if UAC is *disabled*.
With IE now running Elevated, open Windows Update in the Control Panel
and try to opt into Microsoft Update now.
If it works, fine.
If not, then you'll have to clean boot Vista :

I allways use with/without UAC (normally I let UAC activated), use
Windows Update as 'Administartor', but nothing helps.
At last, I found this:
activate cmd 'as Admin'
enter: "net user Administrator /active" (without "") to activate Admin
the info 'succesfull' occurs
start windows new
By using the above helpfull tips after reboot I see the first time
ever the Admin-Profile, enter it and use Windows update again, set
microsoft update to install, install was succesfull and under my
normally profile I can now install all updates (e.g. Windows and
Office).

You're mowst welcome, Joachim. You don't need to boot into the hidden
Admin account to opt into Microsoft Update.
Running the system while logged into the Admin account is an unnecessary
security risk.
Just open IE Elevated and the system will be able to opt in.
