0xC00D1163 Digital Copyright Protection Error

I can no longer play a DVD in Windows Media Player 9.0 on
two of my computers running WindowsXP. I receive the
following error:

0xC00D1163 digital copyright protection error.

I cannot find any help online.

Does anyone know what I need to do to correct this
problem?

Hi, I have seen others with this problem, they have reported that installing
the DivX Codec's caused this to happen. The only suggestion that I can give
is if you have the DivX Codec installed, uninstall it and contact the makers
of the codec. If that doesn't help I not sure what you can do. Try playing
the DVD's in an application like PowerDVD or WinDVD.

Ijust got bit by this by installing Intervideo DVD Copy
to make a backup of the music videos I travel with. I
found that it would copy approx 1 of 5 disks I have,
informing me copyright would not permit me to have backup
copy of disks I own. Unsatisfied, I uninstalled to junk
the software but now Windows Media Player is unforgiving.
It won't play protected; it will play unprotected unless
I try to go to root menu and pick a chapter. Then I have
to "close menu" and it will resume. I can use arrows to
advance chapters (inconvenient). This is after two hours
of fighting to uninstall/reinstall Media Player, but
there appears to be "ghosts in the machine."

Don't want to bail to WIn DVD or Power DVD but may have
to. Wanting to put up my original DVDs and have less risk
of loss with backups was penny wise and dollar foolish.
