I view my library as a list of Album Artists. This is fine using Artist View.
I click on an Artist and I would like to see a list of their Albums.
At this point WMP 11 shows all the tracks as well, and this 'title' column
cannot be removed from the view. With Artists with many albums, especially
Various Artists of which i have hundreds, this creates a huge vertical list
that is difficult to navigate. I would prefer to see a list of Albums (plus
Album Art), preferably formatted as tiles across the screen so I can see them
all at once. It is not necessary to see the track listings until selecting an
individual album.

1. Click on the Album node in the left pane
2. Type the name of the artist in the search/filter box at the top right

Is that what you want?

This is kind of how I would like the view, but having to type in an artist
name isnt on, especially on my HTPC where I dont have a keyboard ! I believe
it should be do-able via the Artist View, by either de-selecting the 'Title'
field or allowing an Icon view in View Options.
Your solution also lists the albums alphabetically with a new row per
Initial letter.
I really like the new feature of sorting albums by one artist in Date order,
but its spoiled by having to show the track titles. Now! Albums have 40+
tracks and take up a whole screen each, when I should be able to view 20+
Album Art covers without scrolling so I can select the one I wish to play.
I feel that despite WMP claiming they are trying to accomodate million+ file
libraries, this feature makes it look really pretty with a few album demo, at
the expense of ease of use for large libraries.

Sadly even though WMP is supposed to now accommodate million+ file
libraries, the search facility seems to be the only contribution. The means
to manage the library (using drag and drop for bulk correction and
reorganisation of metadata) is gone, and the performance scrolling through
even smallish libraries is pretty crappy even this late in the development
cycle.

Drag and drop should work fine: could you clarify... ?

(I also don't have scroll problems, but that may be box-unique anyways...?)

Because the tree-view no longer exists, you cannot drop tracks onto a
Genre/Artist/Album/Composer node value to update tracks. You are limited to
dropping within "peer values" in a single view, which is much more limiting
than in v10, and doesn't even work properly most of the time. The
pseudo-promotion of Contributing Artist to Album Artist also messes up
correction of those values.

If you drop an album on its neighbour to the right one thing happens, and
another if you do it to the left. Most such actions result in the associated
album-art being lost.

Both XP beta builds I've tested and up to Vista build 5600 that I've tried.
This issue has been raised over in Vista land.
