As an expirement I moved all my album art to a newly created
directory, to see if WMP9 would still find them... and it did. I then
deleted all the album art (the whole newly created folder) and flushed
my recycle bin... But then when I played a song in the media library,
the album art still is displayed. No new album art was
re-downloaded... so I was perplexed to where WMP9 was pulling these
from...
So here are my questions:
How is the album art still displayed after being deleted?
Is the album art embedded into the mp3 file?
If so, then why when I go to Advanced Tag Editor and click the
Pictures tab there is nothing there?
And lastly, is there a way to auto download the album art? The only
way I know how to retrieve it is to select a song in the library,
right clicking, and selecting -> Retrieve Album Info.
Any help or explanation would be greatly appreciated,
xpuser
It can embedded into a file, yes.
I haven't toyed with it. But I suspect that you didn't actually remove the
album art from the source folder in the first place.
Correct - you have to do this by hand.

as for being embedded in each mp3 file, if it is, it doesn't show in
the Advanced Tag Editor.
Is it possible you can research this more with MS zachd? Or try it
yourself... put a few mp3's in a folder, retrieve the album art...
delete it... and replay the files... the art still shows.
As for auto downloading Album Art, I think I found a round about
way... If you choose your Visualization as Album Art, it will auto
retrieve them.
thanks...
i to like to display my own album art. i find the black
border on the top and bottom of the original media player
downloaded album art a little annoying. so i edit my own
200x200 images and use the advanced tag editor to add my
image to the album tag.
i've also found that the image has dissapeared when i
reopen the advanced tag editor but the image is still
displayed above my playlist.
i've also noticed that when i highlight all songs in my
playlist and right click to choose "delete from playlist"
for a brief moment the old media player downloaded image
is displayed before the playlist is deleted.
i'm also curious as to why media player takes SO LONG to
update the album when i add my own album cover image.
i'm going to read through your mini-faq but just in case
i'd like to ask you:
where does media player store the "original" downloaded
album cover art?

Do you have "Hide protected operating system files" unchecked too? They're
marked Hidden and System, which is why they can slip by.

Naw - I don't have much/any time whatsoever. :) There's always ten
thousand things on my plate, which is why I get the little newsgroup time I
get in done just before I go to bed. :)

Interesting - I didn't realize that. Cool.
