Getting error message "Windows Media Player cannot find the file" when I try
to stream from http://streaming.osu.edu/WOSU-NPRnews-wm.htm. I experience the
error on one computer running wmp 11 and windows/xp home. On another
computer, using the same shared internet connectioin, also running windows/xp
home but running WMP 10, I do not get the error. I've contacted my isp and
they say there is nothing blocking the content at their end. I've contacted
the website support and they say the stream is up and running and I should
not be having any problem.

I tried everything I found under Web Help in the error message box, and a
number of suggestions for this type of error in wmp 10 (pretty much the same
as for wmp 11 with a few different tab names etc)

Works fine for me. Reset the network cache:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940029

Does that fix you up?

I've reverted to WMP 10, because on my notebook computer I'm able to stream
the file with WMP 10. The problem is still occuring on my desktop computer
with WMP 10.

I don't see any of the symptoms described in kb940029. Also, kb940029 does
not explain how to "Reset the network cache". I must be confused.

I've open another thread, since re-verting to WMP10. See "Unable to play
.wax file using wm10 or...".

Call it what you want, I'm terrible at naming things.

Do those steps fix you?

I've determined that the problem lies with my A-V/Firewall software. I
"disabled" Kaspersky, assuming that would [duh] DISABLE Kaspersky. Apparently
there are obscure pieces-parts of the product that continue to lurk, even
after being "disabled", and it was one of those components that was blocking
the streaming audio. No log record is written!!!

Thanks for taking the time to help.

Phil
