Is that error from WMP, or from the system? That is: does WMP launch first?
Does going to WMP's Tools:Options:File Types and reassociating things to WMP
there help?

Zachd,
Thanks for your reply. The player launches first, then the error message "%1..." displays in a box in the middle of the player screen. The box has two buttons: "Cancel" and "Web Help". I do not know if it is WMP or my system thst displays the error. Web Help brings me to MS, where the error message is identified as 800700C1. I am trying to play an mpeg video from an internet link. This type of file played correctly before I updated WMP from Windows Update. All file types are associated with WMP in the Options dialog box. Re associating did not help.
Thanks,
Bob

Do the files work correctly if you save them to disk first?
What 3rd party MPEG/MPEG2/DVD software do you have installed?

Does mcspmpeg.ax exist on your system (probably in the system32 directory)?

.MPEG works if I save it to disk first, but not from 'net. .WMV causes the same error message if opened from 'net or from local file. I also have VuePrint, Intervideo WinDVD and Quicktime installed. mcspmpeg.ax does not exist on my system.

I reinstalled the player from the WMD site. This version
works. Thanks for your efforts.
