I am trying to stream a screen capture video and audio onto a server online
and have been having difficulties. After some more testing I find I can get
the audio stream from my police scanner encoded fine as long as I don't try
to also stream the screen capture portion of a small window displaying the
live status of the scanning radio. To attempt to stream the video portion I
have to use the 'capture screen' option in the Windows Media Encoder because
if I choose the 'Broadcast a live event' option, when the first screen in the
wizard under 'device options' comes up only the audio portion is available to
configure, not the video portion. I have to go in under the 'capture screen'
option to try and do a screen capture video, but then it doesn't broadcast it
live, however, when I end the session and use the 'play output file' option
the pre-recorded video of my screen capture and audio will play fine through
Windows Media Player but this is not useful unless I can get it streamed
live. Since the video tab is inactive would this mean a video component is
missing from my older pc possibly(pc age= 4-5 years old)? Also, could it
simply be a missing codec I need to download?
Does anyone on this forum have intimate knowledge of the WM Encoder series 9
to be able to narrow this down for me and diagnose the prob?

Select "Capture Screen" from the wizard and setup the basics, uncheck
"Begin capturing screens when I click Finish". Bring up the Properties and
go to the Output tab. Select Pull from encoder or Push to server as
appropriate for the type of broadcast you plan to have. Uncheck Archive to
file if you don't want a saved copy.

Chris, I tried this and it first gives me a warning that I need to create an
announcement, but when I try to create an announcement it still does not
recognize the device and I wind up right where I started. ANy other ideas?
Thanks,
Rodney

You don't need an announcement. Try this attached configuration, by
default it captures the top left corner of the screen, which you can of
course change later. Test it as a pull from encoder first, once you've
confirmed that is working set it up to push to your publishing point.

Chirs ! Help-me please!!! ;)

My "bug":

I use a Windows Media Service 9 to capture public live streaming radios
from internet and broadcast with into my organization trought a LAN.

Same live streaming enjoy it perfectly! But some not!
When i make the publishing point in WMS the server message to me:
"The server is not a compatible streaming media server. Error Code:
0xc00d2ee8"

A link that have problem is http://aovivo.independente.com.br:8000/AM
Note that this link run in Mindows Media Player perfectly!

and, for exemple, a link that is ok: http://200.96.99.10/gaucha

Thank´s

I tried your config but it kept giving me "an unexpected error has occurred
with the audio codec" and it will not stay active. When I try to do a screen
capture with my config settings, it works and plays perfectly through the
archived file but will not play live at all. Why would i work flawlessly on
playback but not work live? It always tells me it is not possible to display
the source or output video in the video panel [0xC00D1B82]

What is going wrong here?

What resolution are you trying to capture? It's working fine here.

Your stream that is not working is an MP3 stream, the stream that works is
a Windows Media stream. I don't think you can use WMS to rebroadcast a
pure MP3 stream.

I am trying to capture only a very small (approx 1" X 3") window on my
screen, it is part of some professional scanner software I have that displays
the frequency and other info from a police scanner. It always gives me the
"Not Supported" message where the small window appears for the video preview.
I've tried slowing down the output speed, etc. with no luck.
