Thoughts?
I set Windows Explorer to show Hidden and System files in Windows Explorer
and opened three album folders, each with album art obtained in a separate
way:
1. Using Find Album Info.
2. Using WMP11 drag and drop.
3. Using Album Art Fixer.
Each folder contained five hidden files:
1. Desktop.ini
2. Folder.jpg
3. AlbumArtSmall.jpg
4. AlbumArt_{xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}_Small.jpg
5. AlbumArt_{xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}_Large.jpg
Desktop.ini is used by Windows Explorer to determine what type of data is in
the folder (Documents, Pictures, Photo Album, Music, Music Artist, Music
Album, or Videos) and display the correct view. The other files are for your
album art.
The "x"s in the above filenames are all "0"s for the folders with album art
from WMP11 drag and drop and Album Art Fixer. For the folder with album art
obtained using Find Album Info, the "x"s are hexadecimal strings. In
example, the "large" album art file in my folder for Pearl Jam's Ten album
is named AlbumArt_{1F896385-9A0A-4ECB-A91C-755F861FD544}_Large.jpg.
I think the problem is that the PMC software on the Gigabeat is using these
AlbumArt files and not the Folder.jpg file whereas WMP will use any of the
files to display album art. I don't know how the hex code is associated with
the folder in order to try manually changing one to see if it will display
correctly on the Gigabeat. I tried sending a message to the writer of Album
Art Fixer to see if he may have some more information, but I have yet to
receive a response.
