I'm having a problem accessing my secure bank details (the
bank could not help with the problem) over the last couple
of days, but I can access my account on another old
computer I have. For some reason my computer now locks up
every time I try to log onto their site. To know avail I
have gone someway back with restore and I'm now stuck.

It's probable unrelated and I'm clutching at straws, but I
have two startup entries in msconfig which are the same,
how is one able to delete an entry from msconfig.

What specific entries are you concerned about?

The 2 LoadPowerProfile entries are both important and both should be left
there. They are both "load, run, and exit" items that do not put any
ongoing load onto the computer.

Unchecking an item in MSCONFIG disables it and prevents that item from
being processed at Startup so that is the simplest way of testing to see
if a specific item is the cause of your problems.

To permanently remove an item you should reconfigure the application that
put that item into the startup so as to remove it. Most programs have
this capability in their "preferences" or "setup" menus.

You can also use REGEDIT to delete the specific entry from the appropriate
Run key in the registry. The Run keys where startup items can be found
are:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ RunServices
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\Setup

Good luck

Yes, they should (and MUST - if Power profile options are to work properly)
both be checked.
