Hiya All,

Is there a FAQ or www site that could give advice on AGP settings such
as aperture size, speed and the like ? Although there is nothing wrong with
my system I like to play :-)

Regards,

Play away ... ;-)

The best setting for AGP bus speed is the maximum speed - if you support 4x
then use it, otherwise use 2x or 1x. The aperture size won't matter at all
for performance though it may allow some games to more aggressively handle
texturing. Try different settings and see what works best with your card
and machine.

Hi Richard,

:-)

Cheers for the advice !!! I had a scour around the net last night and
found a site with quite a few tweaks on:-www.tweak3d.net/

I've got a couple of 3D benchmark jobbies so I guess I'll tweak away and
see what the results are. Just out of interest, is there usually much to be
gained from playing around with such things ? I understand that it can be a
fine line between performance and stability, I was just wondering how finer
line it is and whether it is really worth playing. The tweak guides like the
one above very often give advice but no indication of the severity of the
operation you are carrying out !!! :-)

Regards,
Mart.

Here's another useful site with Bios setting info.

Good luck, Fred

There should be no problems with using different AGP Apeture settings. As
for the bus speed, you should make sure that both your motherboard and card
support it before trying it. The card should automatically slow things down
if needed but I'd hate to count on it. :-)
