I have the following problem when I build CE 6 images:
basically, I keep getting the BLDDEMO: There were errors bulding osDesignTS
every time I compile an image.
However, checking the build.log file in the WINCE600 folder, I found out
that the errors are different:
- once, I got EDITBIN : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file
'C:\WINCE600\OSDesigns\osDesignTS\osDesignTS\Wince600\ADVGEODELX_x86\cesysgen\oak\target\x86\debug\exfat.dll'
- another time, I got EDITBIN : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file
'C:\WINCE600\OSDesigns\osDesignTS\osDesignTS\Wince600\ADVGEODELX_x86\cesysgen\oak\target\x86\debug\dhcp.dll'
- another time (3rd time), I got EDITBIN : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open
file
'C:\WINCE600\OSDesigns\osDesignTS\osDesignTS\Wince600\ADVGEODELX_x86\cesysgen\oak\target\x86\debug\ensoniq.dll'
It is important to say that I don't make any kind of modification to the
operating ssytem project, I simply press the F6 button (Build solution).

At a fourth attempt, everything was working fine!

I see it also important to add that i'm using the Release 3 (R3) of Windows
Embedded CE 6.0.

Please let me know what the reason for this error could be and what the
solution is.

Thanks!

We had this once on one build machine - it turned out to be a faulty
hard disk with an intermittent read problem. The build system really
hammers the disk with thousands of files accessed and the problem only
showed up during a sysgen using platform builder. Try running some
disk stress test diagnostics to see if any errors are reported.

We are experiencing some "interesting" failures in Sysgen as well in
the last couple of days. In our case I believe it is because of the
the OS on the Desktop - Windows 7 64 bit.
What OS are you using?

I'm running Windows XP, 32-bit.

Well, look: I'm using a ThinkPad T60. It has a HDD-head-parking system (very
smart), but I'm getting this error without moving the laptop at all. I can
actually get into the 'head-parked' state. I'll run a HDD stress test and
tell you the results. Maybe you can recommend a specific SW product?

Thanks!

Yes, I'm running Kaspersky.
Until your post, I was completely sure that the anti-virus was set as an
exception (exclusion), since I realized there are PB performance differences
once the anti-virus is off. However, it wasn't set as an exclusion any more
(?!).

To rap it up, I'm just building another image right now, and it apparently
works... I'll keep you updated!

Thanks very much! :)

Sorry, apparently I mistyped something while writing the reply: so, I can
actually say and assure you the HDD-head didn't get into the parking state
while building the image.

Thanks! :)
