In the Platform Manager portion of the catalog, you'll find the Base Engine
and several transports. That's the stuff you need.

If you have all of the right components in your build, boot your device,
connect the serial port and try the following:

1. Open the Network & Dial-up Connections applet from the Settings menu on
the Start menu. Double-tap the Make new connection item. Select a suitable
name for your connection, and choose Direct Connection from the radio button
group. Click the Next button. Accept the default settings, unless you are
using a port other than COM1.

2. Open the Control Panel and run the PC Connection applet. Click the
Change button and select the new connection you just made from the list.

3. From the Run... item on the Start menu, run repllog.exe. The device
should attempt to connect to the PC and the 'status circle' for ActiveSync
should turn green. If the connection is established successfully,
ActiveSync should ask you if you want to establish a partnership.
