I have a user that just recently got a VISTA pc. It is connected to our
domain here. When he comes in first thing in the morning. His laptop will
not connect to the network. looking at the routes. I found 0.0.0.0 mask
0.0.0.0 gateway on-link. If I delete that route and add 0.0.0.0 gateway
192.168.0.1 it starts working again. Anyone have any ideas where this is
coming from?

Thanks

Is his computer getting his IP Address statically or via some DHCP
server in your office? It seems like he isn't getting the default
gateway when he renews his IP address at bootup...

Yep, forgot about that one... I guess most people put laptops to
sleep instead of powering them down (I do that...)..

Ok we tried this fix and that did not do it. The user is on a laptop but
does not go into suspend mode. He shuts down and does a full reboot. This
only happens if he brings it home and connects to his home LAN.

even stranger is that the ipconfig from work shows DHCP and not
static, but I'm glad you found a solution that resolves the issue.

It's still not clear why 0.0.0.0 appears
in the configuration. But you can try following work around to recover
it without reboot machine.
1. delete 0.0.0.0 gateway with the
following command
interface ipv4 set address name="Local
Area Connection" gateway=""
2. Then run:
ipconfig /release
3.Run:
ipconfig /renew

You may want to check if you have the following installed.
C:\Program Files\Bonjour
it will contain mDNSResponder and a associated dll
I deleted the folder and the problem went away.
