Please do not use all CAPs as this is considered shouting and not polite.
Now, where are you trying to get the pictures from?
Are they in a folder on your hard drive?
Were they pictures that were sent to you via an email?
Remember, we cannot see your computer or your actions.
Please be as detailed in describing your problem as you can.

Make sure the image you are attaching is not open in another
program. Windows Mail can't attach anything that is open elsewhere.

Make sure attachments are enabled:
Tools, Safety Options, Security, uncheck "Block images..." and also
uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."

Also go to Tools, Options, Send, Mail Sending Format, HTML Settings,
make sure "Send pictures with messages" is checked.

And unlock your Caps Lock key when posting here.

Please do not use all CAPITAL letters, it is considered to be rude and
SHOUTING.

Ensure that all the folders that contain your pictures are closed prior to
attaching.

Hello

I've tried all of the suggestions Gary, however I am having the same
problem. I am trying to create an email signature with some text and a
hyperlinked image (logo), however it only displays as a black box with the
'red X' in the corner. The file is not open and I have unchecked all of the
boxes as per your advice. Is there something I am still not doing right? Or
missing?

Thanks

Cam

Your refererence to the image has to be the full path to it on your local
computer so that it can be found to include with the message.

<IMG src="file://C:\myimages\myimage.gif">

not the relative path:

<IMG src="myimage.gif">

The latter will not be found by OE to embed it and so you get the redX

You referenced a post of mine which addresses a different issue
(Troy69 could not send pictures.)
You are trying to create a signature which includes an image.
If Steve's suggestion does not help, have a look at these tutorials:

Mac...get a life! The capital issue has already been addressed.
By the way, I also have the same problem and interestingly enough, using
Rogers/Yahoo there is no "options" icon under tools.
Needless to say, I am at a loss on how to forward this email with an
embedded picture (likely using incredimail).
Any suggestions???

Who said anything about an "options" ICON?
Open Windows Mail->Tools->Options. Go to
the correct tabs and check or uncheck items
already posted.

What do you mean by "using Rogers/Yahoo there is no "options" icon..."
We are talking about using the email program Windows Mail, so the provider
is immaterial as far as what appears on the menu bar.

You need to give details as to what "would not allow me to do so" means.
Did it threaten you with bodily harm? What was the exact error message?

Use Message | Forward as attachment and it will include all the original
images.

Go to Tools, Options, Security, uncheck "Block images..." and also

uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."

Also go to Tools, Options, Send, Mail Sending Format, HTML Settings,
make sure "Send pictures with messages" is checked.

If those settings were correct, which antivirus are you running?
Some of them cause problems with Windows Mail.

Hi Gary,

I have Windows Mail Vista Business and I attmpted to forward an email with
photos in the body's message and I continue to get an error message saying
"One or more of these pictures in this message could not be found. When you
send this message these pictures will not be included. Are you sure you want
to send this message?"

I went to the Security tab in options and unchecked "Block images" and "Do
not allow attachments" and the HTML settings "send pictures is checked." I
have Norton Internet Security 2009 could this be the issue?

Make sure that none of the pictures you are attempting to send are
open in another program.

Also, make sure your antivirus program is not configured to scan
emails.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

It could be due to Norton, but likely its a linked image that you don't need
to forward anyway. If you really want the forwarded message intact, use
Message | Forward as attachment.
