Vista Home Basic Reinstall and Update Issues

I've just done a clean reinstall of a three-year-old copy of Vista Home Basic and I'm having problems getting service packs one and two installed. I've gotten a bunch of updates from Microsoft, but what I'd like to do is uninstall them and replace them with service packs one and two. How do I do that and where can I get the service packs? Hi Folks, I posted this question to the Windows 7 forum but did not get an answer so I'm trying here. I have installed Windows 7 and can't find Windows Mail (Not Windows Mail Live). I want to install Windows 7.I have 2 Hard Drives, both are portioned in 2 . If I install windows 7 by booting into Vista, inserting the Windows 7 DVD and run setup. Problem reformatting my Laptop

Hey there, I am planning on reformatting my laptop as it is getting very very slow lately. Bought it 3 years ago though. I'm currently using Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. The only problem is that I don't have my bootable DVD to reinstall my vista, because the retailer did not supply me with the DVD. New install - best way to set up to reduce OS cruft?

I'm going to do a clean install on my 20gb primary partition - I've backed it up using Windows Backup and VMWare's Converter, so that I can virtualize my old setup. What do people recommend to keep the computer shipshape? I've been using Altiris' SVS for some apps, so I'm hoping to continue using that. But any other suggestions definitely appreciated. Vista Basic x32 sp2 I can remember back when, I would install a windows os. I would use fdisk and wipe out the partiion, format the drive and install the os. If I remember correctly, the format, even on a 30gb, hd would take 1/2 an hour or more. Now I have a 160gb hd and recently have re-installed vista using the format... more »
