Hello, I've got a strange situation here,

in my WSUS 3.0 SP1 I've got an update called "Security Update for Microsoft
.NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB929729)." It looks to be a
regular Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 update.

WSUS says, that it is not needed by not a single Vista machine in our
network, i.e. Needed: 0. So, I just don't approve it.

However, I then went to Windows Update button in my Vista, and chose to
"Check online for updates from Microsoft Update", and to my surprise, this
update is being offered for my computer Microsoft Update. I went to Control
Panel Add/Remove to check if I already have it, and that update is not
installed on my Vista Enterprise machine.

Do I need it? Who is lying? WSUS or Microsoft Update? And should I approve
this update in my WSUS, and would it then install?

Regards,
Mantvydas

Do you have the .NET framework version 1.1 service pack 1 installed on the
client in question?

Are you sure it's the same update being offered, i.e., a security update for
.NET 1.1 SP1 and not .NET 1.1 SP1 itself?

Harry.
